Take a look at some live webcams at Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes, more

It’s an unprecedented time and for many, the golf course is one of the few places people feel they can go to enjoy some fresh air while still practicing proper social distancing techniques.

Deciding when to play or stay home is an individual’s choice, of course, and likely varies by geography if there’s a course that’s open.

Two medical experts spoke to Golfweek about the matter.

Golf courses in some states are closed for now, while others stay open for business.

So for those who can’t or don’t want to venture out, why not peek in on some live webcams at some famous courses from around the country.

We tracked down a few of those webcam links here.

Pebble Beach

The site of the 2019 U.S. Open is closed. This message is on the golf links’ website:

“In light of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, Pebble Beach Resorts has temporarily suspended our Resort operations, which includes all hotels, golf courses (including Del Monte Golf Course), our restaurants, retail shops, and health and tennis clubs. For more than one hundred years, we have welcomed guests from near and far to enjoy legendary golf and world-class accommodations along a backdrop of stunning natural beauty. Once the world is ready to travel again, we look forward to welcoming you to Pebble Beach. We are continuing to take reservations for arrivals after April 17th.”

Poipu Bay

Poipu Bay, located on the east coast of the island of Kauai, has a message on its website which states “Due to concerns over COVID 19 we will be temporarily closed March 21 – 31, 2020.”

Kapalua

The Plantation Course at Kapalua is the site of the Sentry Tournament of Champions every January and it’s open for business, with tee times available on the course’s online booking tool. Kapalua underwent an extensive overhaul last winter and re-opened in November, about two months before Justin Thomas won the first event on the PGA Tour in 2020.

Bandon Dunes

Bandon Dunes is one of the premier golf resorts on the West Coast and for now, it remains open but that may change soon.

Gov. Kate Brown has ordered Oregonians to stay home in an effort to stem the spread of the new coronavirus.

“I started by asking Oregonians to stay home and practice social distancing,” Brown said Monday morning in a statement. “Then I urged the public to follow these recommendations. Instead, thousands crowded the beaches of our coastal communities, our trails, our parks, and our city streets, potentially spreading COVID-19 and endangering the lives of others across the state.”

You can view the live webcam of Bandon Dunes here. With the click of a button on that live camera, you can move and zoom the camera to see a few different holes.

St. Andrews

The Home of Golf is perhaps the most famous golf course in the world, and it’s still open for play, although actually getting a tee time there may take a bit of luck and planning (but that’s another story).

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the golf course’s official website explains adjusted hours of operation as well as a list of new procedures, including social distancing:

“In order to assist us with our efforts to provide safe conditions for golfers, we would ask that all golfers adhere to government advice on social distancing and observe the 2 metre rule with any playing partners on tee grounds, greens and throughtout their rounds.”

Until you score that coveted tee time, you can check out the St Andrews Links Webcam, where you can “Check out current conditions, see a loved one tee off or just watch the world go by at the Home of Golf.”

In fact, there are 10 different views you choose from, including the first green, the Road Hole bunker, the Swilcan Bridge and more.
